Clarity
Measures internal inclusions and external blemishes. Grades range from Flawless (FL) to Included (I3). For most buyers, VS1–VS2 or SI1 offer the sweet spot — clean to the naked eye without the premium of Flawless.
Carat
The weight — not the size — of a diamond. One carat equals 0.2 grams. A well-cut 0.90ct diamond can appear larger than a poorly cut 1.00ct stone, so never chase carat weight alone.

A diamond certificate — also called a grading report — is an independent, expert assessment of your diamond's Four C's and other characteristics. It is your guarantee that the stone is exactly what the seller claims it to be.
The two most respected grading laboratories in the world are the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) and the AGS (American Gem Society).
